Back To School - Checklist For Moms

Some parents are sending their kids back to school (in person) for the first time since March. We’re not here to debate the should-they / shouldn’t they - we’re always here to help families.

So we wanted to put some info together for the moms who are going to have a little more silence in their homes or maybe a little less worry when they’re at work. The moms who have been pulling double or triple duty, pouring their energies into their kids in new ways for a while. Yes, we know plenty of dads have been helping their children and sacrificing, but this is for the moms!

Say the words with me - Treat Yo Self!

You deserve a treat, could be big or small, but you deserve it.

Go get coffee at your favorite coffee shop (mmmmmmmmmmmm, Heritage House) or get a pedicure (you want that Bubblebath or Funny Bunny by OPI color), maybe it’s a trip to Target or the grocery store without kids in tow. Think of something you enjoy and go Treat Yo Self!

Here’s a quick checklist for you moms who need Treat Yo Self with some kids going back to school!

  1. Is your coffee cup clean for Monday morning? Do you know where you want to get coffee on Monday? Do have have a friend you want to get coffee with?

  2. Do you know where you want to go eat lunch on Monday? (or Wednesday if that’s your day) You don’t have to go somewhere with a Happy Meal. Do you have a friend you want to get lunch with? You get to choose where you eat with no questions asked!

  3. Is your favorite wine glass clean for Monday or Wednesday night? (...and Wednesday night…)  Do you have your favorite bottle of Pino Noir? Maybe you’re a Chardonay person, who cares just always be responsible, but it’s time for you to celebrate just a little!

  4. How about getting your toes did!? Call a friend, meet for lunch, then go get your toes and heals done! Sit in that massage chair, close your eyes, breathe deep, and relax a little.

  5. You don’t have to check your kids in at the gym for childcare. Heck, you can go to the gym, you can go for a walk and totally clear you mind! Get some kid-free exercise and take care of yourself!

  6. How do those roots look? Got any split ends? Probably a little more gray showing with all the 2020 stress - so make an appointment for yourself!

  7. Nap. Nap. Nap. Even Dr. Fauci says sleep is one of the best ways to protect yourself in these times. Sleep is the time when your body does 70% of it’s health recovery, so why don’t you find some time on Monday and take a nap! Put the stress behind you a little and Treat Yo Self to some much needed rest!

Moms - you work so hard. You provide for your family, your kids, your friends, and your home. You push yourself and you constantly pour your energy out for others. You deserve a little treat now that kids are going back to school. Even if you’re staying virtual, even if you home school, even if your kids have grown and gone to college - you deserve a treat. 

The holidays will be here before you know it, summer was CRAZY, there is more crazy in store for 2020. So please think of something you like that’s a treat, take a little bit of time, and Treat Yo Self - you deserve it and you’ve earned it!
